I am a teacher at a boarding school for 6th-9th grade girls from Latin America and Europe. I have the privilege of developing a course for our girls on building a civilization of love. The course is comprised of culture of life/culture of death issues and it’s counterpart, the dignity of the human person and the Theology of the Body. Thank you for this website!

Excellent article, Dr. Healy.  In a culture that advocates that women are the same as men....not equal or complementary but the same (body and soul), this concept is pushed more and more in contemporary media, movies, books, songs, etc.  I had an interesting experience, however, with my students that gave me hope that truth of who we are, our identity, still reigns in young hearts.  As a teacher in an international boarding school for girls ages 11-15, we were excited to be able to take the whole school to see The Hunger Games last year.  The girls had read the series and loved it, of course.  That being the case, I was very surprised by their comments about Katnis (the female lead) and Peeta (the male lead) after the event.  They were disturbed by the masculine characteristics of Katnis and the feminine characteristics of Peeta.  It caused them quite a lot of uneasiness.  This provided great class discussions since I teach TOB.  This experience with the girls was quite enlightening.  They were troubled the most by the absence of true masculinity.  I wonder how adolescent boys reacted to the role reversal?  Do men like the "tough-guy" warrior woman?

Thank you, Katie.  The beauty of Karol Wojtyla's words never cease to amaze me.

What is there a difference in the term " subjectivism" and "subjectivity"?

Are we a body/soul composite?  Or a body/soul mixture?

I'm a mere 'kindergartener" just beginning to understand the language here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Yes, Devra, I hope they had the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and the heart to be moved.  All Our Lord needs is one little opening, right?  I actually woke up this morning thinking about the gospel parallel of Christ's eating with sinners and how Cardinal Dolan's presence as well as,"what he said and how he said it" was such a great example for us.  Is this not how we are to approach evangelization?  In such a critical moment in history, we need to speak the truth with conviction and gentleness.  These are not incompatible but complementary!  The video is a fabulous teaching tool.  Speak we must!  I may just use it with my students....all eager to know Truth and see its beauty.  Thank you for your post and all those who commented.  I have my lesson plans for this week!
