Bio:

Married with four children and (now) 3 granddaughters. BS in Math and MA in philosophy from the U of Notre Dame, Dr. Phil from the IAP. I teach philosophy and (sometimes) theology (JP II’s theology of the body) at Notre Dame and philosophy at Lake Michigan College.

Reading the secular press on Benedict XVI—‘failed papacy’, ‘Church in decline’, ‘lingering sex abuse crisis’, ‘desires of the young/women/GLBTQ’, ‘political irrelevance’—I asked myself, “These analysts just don’t get the Church. Why? Don’t they do their homework?” But to blame the press is off the mark. There is a deeper answer. The fact is that Catholics really are different...
